The Seven Trumpets

The Seven Trumpets bible study started here in St. John’s Church as a detour to our study of Revelation 14.  Due to there being such a great diversity of views on the Seven Trumpets within the Seventh-day Adventist Church, we thought it would be good to delve into this topic a bit deeper.

In our study group, several had been accustomed to the understanding that Uriah Smith set forth in his book titled “Daniel and Revelation.”  Apparently this has been a long standing view held by many within our denomination.  While recognizing Uriah Smith as a valuable contributor to the rich heritage that we have as Seventh-day Adventists in biblical understanding, we felt that to be true to our name and convictions, we must test all things by the Bible.

Our first step was to understand what Uriah Smith actually taught about the trumpets.  Once that was ascertained, we then would go to the Bible and test it to see if it is so.  So far, we have been surprised at our findings, and I think you will be too.

I am creating this page to share our studies with church members and those who visit our site.  Please be patient with us as we are still in the process of studying the topic out, however we will share what we have covered to date.

The first study is a general overview of the entire book of Revelation.  We believe that it is important when you study any book, that certain basic information needs to be known and understood by the bible student–name, place, date, author, theme, purpose, among others are some general items that need to be understood.  Here is a brief overview of the book of Revelation.  Most of the information contained in this overview can be obtained in the book “The Revelation of Jesus Christ” by Dr. Ranko Stefanovic.  Dr. Stefanovic has done an outstanding job in providing the bible student tools to utilize in understanding the biblical book of Revelation.  For his commentary, this simple overview is deeply indebted.

Here is Uriah Smith’s view summarized in his own words utilizing quotes from his book “Daniel and Revelation”

Below is the biblical analysis of the trumpets and conclusions reached.
